George, fortunately, you seem to have imbibed more from music than firewater! :) Thank you for taking us back to your roots! Incidentally, everyone should own a jukebox, (or two, or three...) Good vinyl played on the right jukebox sounds better than any CD, and really takes you back to the day the record debuted. It's a shame that kids nowadays are clueless about the artists who, generations ago, sowed the seeds for the "music" of today's youth.

I saw Junior Wells once before his demise. Outstanding! I'll never forget and I've forgotten a lot. In the first set. The band started off playing and he did not like what he heard so he turned and stopped them & started them off again. The keyboard player was their "token" white guy. All others were outstanding black musicians. Incredible group it was.

I always enjoy your "musings", but especially this series. Thank you for the opportunity to escape to another place and time.

You bring back such memories-I grew up in Brookfield, went to LTHS, C.O.D., danced all over North Ave., St. Charles Ave., Elmhurst College (sat on the gymnasium floor to see Rod Stewart). Great
music was everywhere you turned, Chicago and the burbs. What a memorable place and time. We drove all over the place for music. We were in the greatest place at a great time.
Thanks for taking me back.

Really enjoy reading these memoirs. Can relate to the accolades for the great "bluesmen". Still blues is great today. Jam every Friday and Sunday at Downtown Blues Bar, Palatka, FL, not on the level of the greats but in appreciation of them and the art!
