Well written story! I've not attended in 3 years due to the lighting. Next year I'll return!
Thx for the write-up!
BTW- we always go to Chinatown to shop and for dinner afterwards...

I agree with your comments re the large and commercial exhibits. Most were truly inspiring and exciting.
What a pity you could not have commented on the design classes and the entries by garden clubs in the greater Philadelphia area. Many of these clubs spend most of the year preparing for this event and deserve a mention too!

I agree. The Philadelphia Flower show has been an event with friend for years. The last several, while wonderful, were not as beautiful or spectacular as this year. I particularly loved the India and the African displays.

I travel 3 hours to see the show and it is more than worth it. Also enjoy the market by the train station and take a short walk to China Town for dinner.

I remember when I lived in PA. I hated winter and every year - I remember in Feb - I would go to the Phila Flower Show. I'd drive two hours from Scranton to Philly, sometimes with a guest and sometimes by myself. The horrible winter weather was offset by the beauty and awe everytime I walked in those doors. And the fragrance from spring hyacinths and summer lillies was intoxicating whenever I'd pass by an exhibit or booth with those and other fragrant flowers. I'd always bring home an orchid or two at the least, and a variety of unusual flowers, supplies and decor in a year that I had more to spend. The exhibits were breathtaking and I do believe I have photos of past shows around here somewhere. I really miss it and wish they had something like that down here in Phoenix. I hope I can get back to PA someday and perhaps make it a regular thing to go to the flower show every Februaray again.
